    Academic Policy

    At FCS, studies are governed by variety of academic policies and procedures. Students are expected to familiarize themselves and follow the academic policies outlined below. We review and update these policies periodically to stay up-to-date and relevant in the context of effective information dissemination.

    The academic policies and procedures formulated by the institute varies subject to the different academic levels in the school. In order to stay abreast with the latest policy changes students and parents are requested to check this page from time to time.

    • All students are expected to attend the opening day of school immediately following the vacations. Absence on the day of reopening of the school will lead to disciplinary action.
    • It is compulsory for students to attain 85% attendance for classes LKG to VIII and 75% for classes IX to XII in each term or unit in order to be eligible to appear for the end-of-term assessment. This stipulation can only be relaxed on genuine medical grounds, at the sole discretion of the Principal.
    • Absence for more than 15% of the total number of working days for classes I to X and 25% for LKG, UKG, XI and XII may result in detention of the child in the same class.
    • Students are expected to reach 10 minutes before the school starts. Students arriving later are not allowed to enter the school premises without a plausible explanation.
    • Arriving late for school is not acceptable. Students found to have come late for more than three days in a month will not be allowed to attend classes on third such occurrence and disciplinary action shall be taken against them.

    Students may subject to when they:

    • Engage in conduct that is disruptive and / or disorderly such as bullying, running in corridors, chewing gum, dress code violation, leaving school without permission, bringing banned objects to school.
    • Engage in conduct that is insubordinate, such as disobeying teachers or staff, tardiness or skipping detention.
    • Engage in conduct that is violent such as hitting, punching, scratching, using a firearm or threatening to use one, or damaging school property.
    • Engage in any conduct that endangers the safety, morals, health or welfare of others such as lying, stealing, intimidation, defamation, discrimination, smoking or using abusive language.
    • Engage in any form of academic misconduct such as plagiarism, copying, cheating or altering records.
    • Engage in any illegal activity or be in the possession of any illegal substance such as firearms, banned narcotics and / or banned printed or electronic material and finally smart phones.

    Students may avail of the school’s transport, subject to the availability of the seats.

    • School bus routes are drawn-up based on the convenience and demand while ensuring that no route is overly long. Parents should consult the school’s transport in-charge for necessary details or any changes desired.
    • Under no circumstances are students allowed to go behind or under the buses parked in the school campus. Students are also not allowed to sit in parked buses during school hours.
    • Under no circumstances should students touch the instrument panel of the buses.
    • A student using the school bus is expected to be at the stop at least five minutes before the scheduled arrival of the bus. The student has to be on the correct side of the arriving bus.
    • Students are issued identity cards which should be worn by the student. Students are allowed to use only their allotted bus and bus stop. There is no provision for temporary change in bus or bus stops.
    • Students, who miss the allotted bus, should not try to board any other bus. In such cases, it is the responsibility of the parents to drop their wards to the school. Such students may, however, return by their allotted bus. Students must make sure that the aisle of the bus is clear, and that school bags and other belongings are placed properly.
    • Students must keep all parts of their body inside the bus at all times. They should not put their hands out even for waving.
    • No object should be thrown inside or outside the bus.
    • The consumption of edibles and drinks are not permitted in the bus.
    • Unruly behaviour like shrieking and shouting is strictly prohibited.
    • The driver’s attention must not be distracted for any reason.
    • The drivers are authorized to stop buses at designated stops only. The list of stops is prepared keeping in view the convenience and safety of all bus commuters and is subject to change.
    • In case there is a permanent change in stop and/or bus, permission for the same bus has to be sought through an application on the prescribed form available at the school office. The change shall become effective only after the school grants written permission. In case the change is of a permanent nature, a new set of identity cards will be issued and the parents have to ensure that they surrender the previous set of identity cards. Request for temporary change in bus or bus stops will not be entertained.
    • In case of discontinuance of bus service 3 months prior notice should be given to the office.
    • Parents should, for the safety of their children, ensure that their wards are always escorted to and from bus stops. For children who, for any reason, have to travel unescorted to and from their stops, an application mentioning the same must be sent to the Principal.
    • Parents (or their duly authorized nominee/s) have to produce the parents’ copy of the identity card at the bus stop or the school gate, in order to receive their wards, failing which the students will not be handed over to parents or their nominee/s and will be brought back to the school office. The parent will then have to pick up the student from the school on the production of the school identity card.
    • Damaged (due to wear and tear and broken ones) identity cards will be replaced. However, for replacement, parents have to submit an application on the prescribed form available at the school office and must ensure that they surrender the damaged card/s to the school authorities immediately on receipt of the new one.
    • If either of the identity cards or both are lost, a new set of identity cards can be procured by applying to the school on the prescribed form, available at the school office. The remaining card and the administrative charges of Rs. 100 (Rupees one hundred only) shall also be deposited along with the application.
    • Parents who want to avail school transport facility for their wards, the Front Office Executive (FOE) can be contacted at the school office during the working hours for details.
    • Parents are not allowed to enter the bus under any circumstances. Parents/Nominees of students who do not avail the school’s transport should present themselves at the school gate 15 minutes before the start/dispersal of the school to drop or collect their cards.
    • Identity cards are valid till new ones are issued. Old identity cards must be surrendered immediately upon receipt of new identity cards.
    • If, due to certain exigencies, a student has to leave the school campus during the school hours, the following rules will be observed:
      • A written request must be submitted by the parents.
      • The parents’ copy of identity card must be produced.
      • The School leaving register must be signed.
      • The Permission Slip must be obtained and shown at the school gate before leaving the campus.

    Future Campus School students will be encouraged to complete assignments using computers / word processors. In the Primary School, there will be due emphasis on handwriting and presentation skills and it must be remembered that all tests and examinations are handwritten.

    • Any internet use by students in school will always be closely supervised and directed by members of staff and will be used only in specific relation to curriculum needs. Students are never allowed to use the internet without such supervision. Parents are also respectfully advised to supervise their children at home when they are accessing the internet. The school invests significant resources in the provision of computing resources for students. In order to ensure maximum access, computing resources must be used in a responsible way. Students are strongly advised to read these regulations carefully. Failure to comply, with the regulations will result in the withdrawal of students right to use these facilities and may lead to further disciplinary action.
    • Use of FCS computing facilities for students’ commercial gain is prohibited.
    • Improper behaviour towards Computer Staff will result in formal disciplinary action.
    • The failure of any element of computing service will not be accepted as a valid excuse of failure to reach an acceptable standard in assignments or examinations.
    • Do not use another users login ID and password, not allow the password of any account issued to you to become known to any other person.
    • You must log out at the end of each logged in session unless prevented by system failure.
    • Do not remove, borrow, connect or disconnect equipment without permission.
    • Direct communication such as online chat facilities will not be allowed at the school.
    • Do not hack, access, copy, delete or amend information or resources of another user.
    • Do not initiate or perpetuate any chain e-mail message.
    • Do not deliberately create, display, produce, store, circulate or transmit defamatory or libelous material.
    • Do not make deliberate unauthorized access to facilities or services accessible via FCS LAN.
    • If there is damage to any computing facility, FCS reserves the right to charge students for the cost of rectification of such damage and/ or further disciplinary action.
    • Students must not copy onto school equipment any software, games or files unassociated with school-related tasks.
    • Students are not allowed to create any page in the name of FCS in any Social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter etc. and post any kind of message or photo on it.

    A properly headed general administration department looks after all important administrative areas like safety, security, hygiene and sanitation, student’s health care and campus beautification.

    • All students are expected to carry their hand sanitizer.
    • LKG/ UKG children have to bring an extra set of Uniform in their bag for the emergency situation arising due to poor toilet habits.
    • School objects to students eating junk food as it is injurious to health.
    • Packaged food items are not allowed in school.
    • Parents are encouraged to give a healthy lunch box to the students which is not detrimental to health.
    • We request the parents to monitor the quantity of food in their tiffin box and to avoid wastage of food at all cost.

    The napkin and mat issued to LKG and UKG children are integral part of school uniform and hence the students have to carry these things to school daily and use it while having their Tiffin.

    At Future Campus School the children are tutored with utmost care. Learning is a complete process which includes imparting of knowledge, revising and rehearsing, inculcating reading and writing skills and moral values, nurturing of latent capabilities and encouraging the imagination of the child. In Future Campus School we have interactive smart boards where students are taught modules with the help of audio-visual presentations. Consequent upon the decision taken by the CBSE the dual scheme of examination for class X shall stand discontinued for the students appearing in class X, academic year 2017-18 and onwards. The students have to appear for board exam in class X conducted by CBSE in different exam centres. From year 2017-2018 all school exam would be conducted as per remodelled assessment structure explained below. Remodelled assessment structure effective from the Academic year 2017-18 for Class X 1.

    The academic year for various classes is divided as follows:

    Classes LKG-II

    The academic year is divided into three terms:

    • Term I - April to July
    • Term II - August to November
    • Term III - December to March

    Evaluation of child’s progress would be done on the basis of continuous assessments which include comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, conversation, concepts, activity, environment sensitivity etc. Progress report would be given to the parents at the end of each term.

    The academic year for various classes is divided as follows:

    Classes III-X

    Evaluation of Academic Subjects in classes III to X from 2017-18 onwards will be as follows as directed by CBSE. The school would conduct an end-of-year Annual Examination on 100% syllabus along with 3 period written test in the entire academic year. Of the 3 period written test the best two will be taken. In order to incorporate gradient learning these 3 tests will be as follows:

    • Pre-mid term test covering 25% of syllabus
    • Mid-term test covering 50% of the syllabus
    • Post mid-term test covering 75% of syllabus

    Classes XI / XII

    For the purpose of gradient learning school has opted for the following schedule of evaluation from academic session 2017-18 onwards.

    • Three periodic short tests from June to August of the which the average of the best two will be taken in every subject. This will be considered as the 1st unit.
    • This is followed by one mid-term written test in September.
    • One unit test will be conducted in the month of November on cumulative syllabus for XII and in the month of January for Class XI.
    • Annual exam will be conducted in the month of February/ March for Class XI.
    • Pre-board for class XII will be conducted in the month of December.

    Students must obtain the qualifying grade (minimum grade D) in all the subjects under Scholastic Domain.

    For Classes III - X

    Certificates will be awarded subject wise to the student who has secured A1 in individual subjects.

    Grades will be awarded to the students as mentioned above.

    • Subjects like Health and Physical Education (H&PE), Yoga, Performing Arts and Art & Crafts (as applicable) will also be assessed.

      • There is no provision for re-assessing students, who remain absent on the day of assessment, or those who have failed in one or more subjects. Request for assessment date and time will not be entertained.
      • Student reporting late in assessment will not be given any extra time for answering the question paper.
      • Unfair means: Students found using any unfair means during any of the assessment, will be given zero in that subject. Parents and the concerned student will be summoned and asked to provide an explanation. A repeat of such action in future will result in the prompt issue of Transfer Certificate, without notice.
      • Request for the issue of the Progress Report before the declaration of the results will not be entertained.

    The school’s Resource Centre is open to all students from class I onwards. All classes have one Resource Centre period in their weekly schedule barring XI & XII for whom services of the resource centre is always available. Students visiting the Resource Centre have to observe the following rules:

    • Every student shall borrow and read books from Resource Centre each month, as per activities listed in the schedule.
    • Until the previously issued book is returned, student will not be eligible for a fresh issue.
    • Reference books are not for issue. This book can be read only in the Resource Centre.
    • If books are returned late a nominal fee of Re 1 per day will be levied.
    • Books marked, disfigured, damaged or lost in their possession will have to be replaced by the borrower, failing which their parents will be billed thrice the cost of a replacement.
    • Any student found deliberately damaging or defacing a book may be debarred from the Resource Centre for the entire term or academic year.
    • The Resource Centre has an open access system, and students must help to maintain the order and organization of the collection in different shelves. They must place the books in the shelves strictly according to the call number, after consultation with the librarian.
    • Students are not allowed to bring their personal books or belongings to the Resource Centre.
    • Resource Centre books should be returned on time, failing which, parents will be asked to report to school and explain the non-return of Resource Centre books by their ward.
    • Strict discipline has to be maintained in the Resource Centre.
    • It is mandatory for all the students to do the activities stated in the list of activities of Resource Centre.
    • As mentioned earlier, students must wear their uniforms with pride ensure that they look neat and presentable at all times.
    • A student must always come to school in uniform, also during the practical and extra classes.
    • No student is allowed to attend any Open House, school functions in or outside the school in any dress other than school uniform.
    • Students not in complete/neat uniform can be debarred from boarding the bus/entering the school.
    • Girls are required to wear black hair bands/ black hair clips, both inside the campus as well when they go out to represent the school. Recommended hair style for girls for classed LKG to X two pig tails and for classes XI and XII one plait.
    • The length of skirts has to be 2" below the knee.
    • The length of the shorts has to be 1" above the knee.
    • Boys and girls are required to wear shirts and pants as per the design specification of the prescribed uniform.
    • Sikh boys of LKG and UKG must wear blue patkas. Class I onwards, blue turban shall be worn.
    • Girls are not allowed to wear any danglers in their ears, they are not allowed to wear nose pins and also not allowed to put henna in their hands. They are only allowed to wear simple studs in their ear.
    • School does not want to interfere with personal religions beliefs however for disciplinary purpose all kinds of religions symbols astrological stones should be used in such a way that they are not visible.

    Non-compliance of rules given above will result in issuance of yellow card and repeated offence will result in suspension for a week.

    A students’ council will be formed every session in order to instill leadership quality in students. This gives them a sense of responsibility and ownership. The Students’ Council becomes a mouthpiece of the students. They act as a link between the Head of the School, Teachers and Students. They help to organize different activities scheduled in the event calendar along with the teacher.

    The student from Class VI onwards gets organized into house system. Future Campus School has 4 houses, Red, Blue, Yellow and Green. Each house has designated role models & are guided by a motto such as :

    The basic purpose of this house system is to inculcate leadership qualities amongst students which make them courageous and confident. All houses are led by house captains assisted by vice captains who are elected by the house every year. These leaders work under the guidance of house teachers, who in turn take responsibility in helping their respective houses to participate in inter-house competition throughout the year and also during the Annual Sports.

    Criteria and Method of selection of students’ Council

    • Attendance should be at least 85%.
    • They are expected to be in proper & tidy uniform always.
    • They are expected to have good academic track record.
    • Aspiring students may give their names for various positions to the in-charge. They are selected by the entire teachers’ council.List of eligible candidates shall be displayed in School Notice Board.

    Method of selection of Class Monitors

    • The Class Monitors are also a part of Students’ Council. The Class Teachers shall appoint the Class Monitor on the basis of the following:
      • Academic report of last session.
      • Participation in co-curricular activities (Inter and Intra School).
      • Attitude and Behaviour of child with teachers, seniors, peers and juniors.

      The objective is to ensure that today’s students are well-prepared to be tomorrow’s innovators, leaders and engaged citizens of the world.
